I have been a delinquent blogger! My apologies to all of you who enjoy reading my rambling posts! We were out of town visiting theFox Family in Mountain Home, Arkansas from June 30-July 8. Since we've been home I've been busy working, catching up around the house, and going to doctor and dentist appointments. I have been puting off writing this blog post because it appears my husband has misplaced the disk of all the photos from the trip. However, I can't procrastinate any longer! So this will most likely be a picture-less post, unless I can find my camera to pull off a few photos. We shall see! I'll try to keep it short
June 30
--Denali fell asleep in the car on the way to the airport and slept through most of our wait time at the airport. After nursing, she slept through the first flight and some wandering around in the Denver airport. After nursing again, she slept through the rest of our traveling until we reached Tulsa
--We were instantly greeted with awful humidity and heat around 85 degrees at 11:30pm! Yuck! Miranda picked us up from the airport, we headed to her house, chatted, and went to bed.
--Slept for the first time EVER with Denali in our room. I don't see why people like sleeping with a baby in their room! They're so noisy when they're asleep!
July 1
--Slept in till 11, lazed around the house watching "The Office" for the first time. Very funny show.
--Miranda got home from work, we picked up their second car from the shop, and then headed to meet Dan at his work a few hours away. Ate when we picked him up and headed on to Mountain Home.
--Denali did NOT like the car ride. She cried uncontrollably (for the first time in her life) a few times. It hurt me to hear! I consoled her by turning around in the front seat mostly. We stopped once to nurse her, and I saw firelies for the first time. They were AWESOME!!
--Arrived in Mountain Home very late. Chatted for a little while, and went to bed.
--All but Jonathan's family were there. This includes: Andy, Kera, Nathan, Katie, Aaron, Matthew, Emma, Rebecca, Joshua, Marion, Callie, Delaney, Miranda, Dan, Deborah, Sarah, Stephen, Tom, Sandy, Adam, Denali and I. Rebecca and Deborah were both there sans husbands.
July 2
--Everyone but me, Denali, Rebecca, Emma, Stephen, Callie, and Delaney went canoeing. Callie and Delaney spent all day at Preschool. Rebecca and I (but mostly Rebecca) watched Emma and Stephen. Everyone had fun Canoeing and there was very minimal sunburning. Adam has a nice weird tan blotch on his back where Rebecca missed spraying the sunscreen on him. hehe
--Everyone was happy, but tired, when they got home.
--Most evenings during the trip were spent playing games after the kids went to bed. Especially 5 Crowns and Skrutineyes (or something like that)
July 3
--Most went to the park and played with their kids in the late morning/midday
--Adam, Denali, Dan M, Nathan, Andy, and I went Pawn Shopping. A good time was had by all. Little to nothing was purchased! :)
--Spent the afternoon napping, cooking, and getting ready for the Open House that night for ward members to come see us all.
--Had the open house, it was fun! Denali slept on my chest through the whole thing. Two of Adam's good friends from high school showed up with their ADORABLE wives. Jeremiah Bean and Joseph Drake. Great to see them!
July 4
--Spent the day at home hanging out, napping, reading, playing games etc. It was a low key 4th! --Dan, Miranda, Adam, Kera, and Andy went out and procured quite the array of fantastic fireworks.
--The kids blew off the tame ones while it was still light outside. I missed most of it because I was feeding Denali, but that was okay.
--When it was dark we set off all the big exciting ones. I watched from the upstairs window with Denali and niece Delaney. My favorites were the Roman Candles, and some fountains that shot paratrooper men with parachutes up in the air. Very cool! Delaney was so cute shouting "Woo Hoo!" every time one went off.
July 5
--Went to church and took up 2 full center pews. The church is true in Arkansas too! :) I love how we can travel all over the world and hear the same truth and the same lessons wherever we go! (Also, I was jealous of the nursing mother's room at their building. VERY large. Ours is only big enough for one person, and we have 3 nursing mothers in the ward!)
--Had a low key afternoon trying to keep the Sabbath Holy with 23 people in one house! yikes!
July 6
--Andy, Kera and their brood (Nathan, Katie, Aaron, Matthew, and Emma) left in the morning.
--Dan and Miranda left in the afternoon.
--We generally hung out and enjoyed one another's company. It was so much quieter with 5 fewer children and 4 fewer adults in the house!
July 7
--Slept in, and got packed and ready to drive to Tulsa.
--Adam received a "Raindrop Treatment" from his Mom with Essential Oils. It was interesting and appeared to be very relaxing, and of course quite aromatic!
--Left around 1pm and drove to the Arndt's house so Adam could pick up a 22 rifle for Deborah. (It was really just an excuse for him to see Wally again and see more of his guns!)
--Drove to Tulsa. Denali didn't like this car ride either. I moved to the back seat about 1.5-2 hours in to comfort her better. A lot of her screaming appeared to happen while she was totally asleep. That was quite confusing to us! She was definitely easier to comfort from the back seat!
--Hung out with Miranda and Dan till pretty late and went to bed
July 8
--Miranda drove us to the airport and we were on our way!
--Uneventful flights, Denali was great! She cried a few times (like, one cry) on the second flight, but when we were getting of the plane in Medford and the people behind us stood up they said they didn't even know their was a baby in front of them! :)
--During our layover of 2.5hours in Denver we walked about half of concorse B (has around 100 gates!) and rode the train around for a while. I learned later that a girl I knew from high school saw me in the terminal, but was talking to an agent and couldn't verify it was actually me before we were gone. How funny!
--We arrived home to a house that was cleaner and more wonderful than how we left it! Mom did a bunch of things around the house for us and Blake mowed the lawn! We have such an awesome family!!
It was a great trip! Denali was wonderful and cute as always. She grew a bunch while we were there as evidence by her too tight car seat when we got home! I am now a pro at nursing in public and I LOVE my "hooter hider". We used the Moby Wrap all through the airports and loved it. Denali did a lot of sleeping in there, and it was a lot easier on my body! Gotta love being hands free! I'll post photos as soon as we find the disk!
Oh how they make me laugh...
